Meet Anna Horvath
Anna Horváth is a narrative designer and architect who works in various disciplines of visual arts, also taking into account exhibition, installation, interior and furniture design.
As she was always passionate about storytelling, she graduated with an MA in Narrative Environments from Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts London and has participated in numerous design and architecture projects from small to large scale structures in London, Berlin, Lisbon, Budapest, and Malta. Her portfolio includes projects like the permanent exhibition at the prestigious Jewish
Museum in Berlin, a pop-up store for Hermes Petit h collection in Lisbon, school furniture for a favela in Rio de Janeiro, or her first furniture collection that has been launched during the Paris Design Week.
Anna forms part of different design teams and multidisciplinary collaborations. She is currently creating her playful design brand: AHA Objects ( https://ahaobjects.com/), which is a world of colours, textures, and narratives. Her designs aim to be more than purely functional objects – often there is a hidden social, cultural, environmental, or political commentary embedded within each design piece.
She represented Malta for Eco Solidarity at the WantedDesign Manhattan, part of New York Design Week with her second collection: SORĠI ( https://www.sorgi.mt/). SORĠI is an outdoor furniture collection for Malta’s public spaces made from construction waste that aims to highlight the importance of our architectural heritage.
SORĠI has been named ‘the best creative start-up’ in 2022 in Malta, and currently going under business development to be implemented in further locations.
The studio is Malta based where the designs merit inspiration from local aesthetics and craftsmanship with numerous international projects, sales and collaborations.
The Residency
During the residency, Anna is planning to focus on her upcoming design pieces. She will be immersing herself in the creative process and draw inspiration from the residency’s environment. Throughout her stay, she plans to work on site-specific interventions, designing pieces that are tailor-made for the residency location and its surroundings.
Whether she’s exploring the residency’s unique surroundings or engaging with the local community, Anna is determined to make the most of this opportunity to create exceptional design pieces during her stay.
