Meet Stephanie Galea

Stephanie is a Maltese photographer and visual artist based in London. Her journey, a deviation from her B.Sc in Chemistry with Materials, has led her to work in the fashion industry, shooting for clients and renowned publications such as Vogue, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton and Vivienne Westwood amongst others.

Stephanie’s work is inspired by scenes and feelings she remembers growing up on the island, whilst her strong female characters portrayed in her imagery are inspired by women she has met throughout her life.

Stephanie also maintains a fine art practice and has exhibited her work on numerous occasions across London, the USA and Malta.

A series that came about as a continuation of Stephanie’s previous work, Traces, and as a reaction to the lockdown. This work is purely a visual experience – it’s about colour, shape, form and feeling. It is about freedom, creation and exploration through the media she resonates with the most. The photographic images explore the glorification of the ordinary moment – women being themselves. The incorporation of paint is about the act of creation – mind to hand to pen (or brush) to paper.
