A contemporary exhibition and project space in Gozo by Bored Peach Club
Based within Bored Peach Club in Gozo, Malta, the Atelier is a new contemporary exhibition and project space designed for exhibitions, installations, residencies, screenings, and independent creative projects looking for something more intimate, characterful, and alive than the conventional white cube gallery.
The Atelier was designed as a flexible space for presentation, artistic exchange, and experimentation. Rather than erasing the room’s original textures and history, the design embraces them: exposed rubble walls, softened tones, timber interventions, and an atmosphere that sits somewhere between a studio, a project space, and a living archive in progress.
Small in scale but deliberately open in possibility, the Atelier was created to encourage atmosphere over neutrality and dialogue over distance.
Designed by Tom Van Malderen
Tom Van Malderen is widely recognised for his work across architecture, exhibition design, installation, and contemporary art. His approach to the Atelier reflects the same sensitivity and conceptual depth found throughout his wider practice: spaces that do not simply contain work, but actively shape the experience of encountering it.
Developed specifically for Bored Peach Club, the Atelier moves away from the sterile language of the traditional gallery model and instead embraces context, texture, improvisation, and presence.
A Space for Exhibitions, Residencies, Installations, and Independent Projects
The Atelier primarily functions as a presentation space for Bored Peach Club’s visiting artists in residence, while also opening itself up to external artists, curators, collectives, and independent projects interested in activating the space through exhibitions, screenings, talks, launches, workshops, performances, and temporary interventions.
Alongside its own evolving programme of exhibitions and collaborations, the space is available for selected external proposals throughout the year.
