Calypso – Epopey by Mako Lomadze

Epopey: Hidden Places explores transformation, myth, and the unseen layers of nature and the self. Artist Mako Lomadze, originally from Western Georgia, a region deeply connected to the myths of Odysseus, has spent over five years researching the links between Georgian and Mediterranean legends. The project examines how stories, rituals, and landscapes shape human perception.
The exhibition includes paintings created in Mexico and will continue to expand through site-specific research in Malta and Gozo. Inspired by Gozo’s sacred sites, ritual spaces, and natural landscapes, the works reflect the beauty, fragility, and quiet decay of the natural world.
Epopey: Hidden Places brings together Lomadze’s ongoing series Hidden Places and Epopey, merging personal and collective narratives with Gozo’s symbolic environment.
