A guide to looking again
An exhibition and zine launch shaped by the people who joined us for a closer look at familiar places.

Inside the zine

It started with a walk
Where the Bored Things Are began with an invitation to slow down and pay attention to places we usually pass without thinking.
With Therese Debono, Joe Smith, and Lisa Gwen guiding the photo-walks, participants took a closer look at the streets of Ħamrun and Marsa, Żebbuġ, Balzan, Lija and Attard, and Marsaxlokk. Afterwards, they joined Leanne Ellul for writing workshops, returning to their photographs to explore the memories, stories, and words they brought to mind.
The focus was on observation: noticing textures, corners, and ordinary details, and spending time with what they stirred in us. No experience in photography or writing was needed. Everyone brought their own way of looking.
Thank you for looking with us
To everyone who took part, thank you for giving this project your time, your stories, and your attention. For showing us what you noticed in your surroundings, and for sharing it with others.
The walks and workshops were a chance to learn from one another as well as from the places themselves. What you photographed, wrote, and shared has given us a collection that we are looking forward to bringing together in print and on the walls at Bored Peach Club.
The exhibition and zine launch
For this final part of the project, a selection of photographs and texts from all the participating villages comes together in one zine and a collective exhibition.
We would love you to join us. There will be time to spend with the work, recognise a familiar place, and discover an unexpected detail. Free printed copies of the zine will be available to take home while stocks last.
If you took part, come and see what you helped create. If you are discovering the project for the first time, you are very welcome too.
A copy for you.
The zine is free to read and download — no invite needed.
A limited number of free printed copies were handed out on 24 October, between 11:00 and 17:00.
